Course story
Course story
Mike Keiser bought a stretch of the Oregon coast and asked for a links course on it, walking only, with no carts and no houses. David McLay Kidd was largely unknown at the time and built Bandon Dunes along the cliffs in 1999. It worked immediately. Gorse, fescue, sand and an ocean that supplies wind and rain without much notice, all played on foot with a caddie. The resort has since added several more courses and become the destination American golfers organise trips around, but the original is still the one that made the case.
