Course story

Quail Hollow opened in 1961 to a George Cobb design and has been reworked repeatedly by Tom Fazio since. What it is known for is the finish. The 16th, 17th and 18th are called the Green Mile and play as the most difficult three hole closing stretch on the regular PGA Tour schedule, with water on two of them and a long uphill approach on the last. Leads disappear there every May. The course hosted the PGA Championship in 2017 and the Presidents Cup in 2022, and the rest of it is handsome Carolina parkland with creeks and mature trees.
